About Southlake, Texas

Southlake, Texas is a city near Dallas/Fort Worth located in the northeastern part of Tarrant County, Texas. A small northernly area of the City of  Southlake is in Denton County. As of the 2000 census, the population was 21,519, though it has rapidly grown since that time.

Southlake is renown for Southlake Town Square,one of the most popular shopping centers in Tarrant County. Southlake Town Square is located on State Highway 114 and Southlake Boulevard.

Southlake is also home to the Carroll Dragons. Belonging to the Carroll Independent School District, the Carroll Dragons high school football team was ranked #1 in the country in 2004 and 2005 and has lived up to its claim by winning the division 5A state championship in 2002, 2004, and 2005 while being the runner up in 2003. In addition to Carroll’s three 5A titles, Carroll won state championship titles in 1988, 1992, and 1993 as a classification 3A school. Carroll posted 16-0 records all six championship years. Dawson Middle School, named for George Dawson (a man who learned to read when he was near 100 years old), performed in the Global Virtual Classroom contest and placed third in their first year in the contest.
